The Syrian Expatriates Association in Belgium and Luxembourg commemorates the 78th anniversary of Evacuation Day

Brussels, (ST) – On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the evacuation of the French colonialists from Syria, the Association of Syrian Expatriates in Belgium and Luxembourg,held a celebration in the Belgian capital, Brussels, in the presence of the head and members of the Permanent Mission of Syria to the European Union in Brussels and a large crowd of members of the Syrian community and expatriates in Belgium and Luxembourg.

In his speech, Ambassador Ammar Al-Arsan, Head of the Permanent Mission of Syria to the European Union in Brussels referred to the role of Syrian expatriates in conveying Syria’s message rooted in history and representing it abroad through their achievements and work.

Al-Arsan stressed the importance of continuing and strengthening Syrians’ connection to their homeland, whether through embassies and diplomatic missions or through visits to Syria whenever the opportunity arises.

In turn, Antoine Kassis, the Head of the Syrian Expatriates Association in Belgium and Luxembourg, referred to the deep-rooted and sublime meanings of evacuation in the minds and consciences of Syrians. He stressed that these struggles of grandparents and fathers represented by the various revolutions against the old colonizers in Syria are a trust in the hands of generations.

These struggles constitute an incentive and a beacon for these generations in their continuous struggle against the new forms and tools of neo-colonialism.

The celebration concluded with an artistic performance of Syrian music and songs presented by Syrian expatriate artists.
