On April 17th, the Syrian Embassy in Moscow held a celebration marking the seventy-sixth anniversary of the Independence Day at the Friendship University in Moscow.
The Syrian community, with their Russian friends, and Syrian students studying in Russia and independent countries participated in the celebration.
Ambassador Dr. Riyad Haddad said in his speech during the celebration that the evacuation (independence) anniversary has become a symbol of a way of life lived by the Syrian people for more than a decade in which sacrifices were made by the sons of the homeland and the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army in the war on terrorism.
Ambassador Haddad pointed out that the steadfastness of the Syrian people in their struggle against the French colonialists is currently continuing in the face of attempts to stifle them economically, besiege and impoverish them by the West, which has pursued a policy of starvation to achieve its goals.
Ambassador Haddad pointed out that the evacuation commemoration this year is going through exceptional circumstances that can change the face of the world and serve the interest of the Syrian people and the rest of the peoples who have suffered from the scourge of the unipolar regime.
“Syria was one of the first supporters of Russia in its step that aims to protect the residents of Donbass and protect its security from the danger of NATO,” Ambassador Haddad said.
Ambassador Haddad added that Syria stands once again on the right side of history and has confidence that the truth will prevail despite the misleading Western propaganda.
In turn, the head of the National Union of Syrian Students in Russia and the CIS Branch, Louay Abdullah, said: “That evacuation is renewed with every victory achieved by the Syrian Arab Army and with every martyr who rises to heaven in defense of the homeland.”
The Vice-President of the Syrian community in Russia and the CIS, Dr. Ali Ismail, said that the Day of Evacuation represents the heroism, redemption, freedom and independence.
For his part, the Secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party Organization, Dr. Bassam Al-Shalabi, stressed that the struggle of the Syrian people and their national forces expelled theFrench occupier from the homeland.
Film and television director Oqba Ali Jumaa, master’s student in economics Wafaa Masoud, the Syrian expatriate Ismail Kayali, the representative of the second generation of Syrian expatriates in Russia, Leticia Hanna, and the student Mansour Danon talked about the meanings of the great evacuation and what it represents for Syrians everywhere.
