The Syrian community and students in Cyprus and Italy call for lifting the western coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people

The Syrian students and members of the Syrian community in Cyprus have stressed that the European Union should lift the western unilateral coercive economic measures and the unjust blockade imposed on the Syrian people which affects all walks of life, particularly in light of the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

In a message addressing the European Commission in Nicosia, the Syrian community and students in Cyprus affirmed that the Syrian people, who suffered for a long time from terrorism and from the repercussions of the terrorist war on them, will continue to adhere to their homeland. They reiterated that the Syrian people alone have the right to decide their own future and that the coercive measures that have caused massive humanitarian suffering to millions of Syrians should be lifted.

In Rome, the Syrian community and the European Front for Solidarity with Syria in Italy called for the immediate and complete lifting of the illegal western coercive measures imposed on Syria.

In a letter to the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli and a number of EU officials, Head of the Syrian community in Italy Jamal Abu Abbas and the head of the European Front for Solidarity with Syria in Italy Giovanni Viola stressed the need to lift the coercive measures imposed on Syria which has been fighting terrorism for more than ten years and now and like the rest of the world, it suffers from the Corona pandemic.
