The Syrian film “The Silk Journey” in the official competition of the Cedar International Short Film Festival in Morocco
The Syrian short documentary film “The Silk Journey”, scripted and directed by Syrian filmmaker Al-Muhannad Kalthoum, is participating in the official competition of the 24th edition of the Cedar International Short Film Festival, which will start on August the10th and continue untill August 13th, 2023 in the city of Azrou-Ifrane, Kingdom of Morocco.
According to the director of the festival, Abdel Aziz Ben El-Ghali, the 24th edition bears the slogan “Pluralism and Difference in Cinema.”
The Festival is organized by the Screen Club Association for Childhood and Youth and with the support of the Moroccan National Cinema Center.
Several Moroccan and Arab cinematic personalities will be honored throughout the festival days.
Thirty films, including fiction and short documentaries, from several countries will compete for the festival’s prizes.
It is noteworthy that the above Syrian film documents aspects of the Syrian heritage such as practices, rituals and ceremonies that are transmitted from one generation to another.
The film is a cinematic document of the living intangible heritage which differs mainly in its spiritual aspects that move the ideas circulated by generations that have reached us, and the film seeks to specify the elements of heritage and preserve them as part of the belonging component of the identity of our distinction, and the distinction of the Syrian cultural diversity.
The film is produced by the General Establishment of Cinema.
