Hasakah, (ST) -The Turkish occupation forces and the terrorist groups associated with it have continued to bombard safe areas in the northern and northwestern countryside of Hasakah, which led, during the past two weeks, to the death of martyrs and significant material damage to property and infrastructure in the area.
With the continuation of the Turkish occupation’s aggression and its indiscriminate bombardment, the people of the rural areas and villages of Tel Tamer, Abu Rasin, and Zarkan did not find any alternative but to flee from their homes in light of direct targeting by artillery, drones, etc. They have resorted to temporary shelter centers in some of the safe cities and areas of the governorate.
The Turkish occupation forces and the terrorist groups associated with it have tried to empty the region of its population and bring about a demographic change.
Many stories of suffering told by the displaced families bring back to mind the scene of the Turkish aggression when they invaded the city of Ras al-Ain two years ago and expelled its people and seized their homes and properties for the residence of its mercenaries and terrorists, some of whom were of foreign nationalities.
Mahmoud Hamid, a displaced person from the village of Al-Abush in Abu Rasin district, talks to a SANA reporter about how artillery shells targeted everyone who moved in his village and the dangerous conditions that accompanied his departure, his family and his seven children during the bombing in search of any safe place of shelter.
Hamid added that, the people left their places without carrying any belongings with them, pointing to the need to intensify efforts to secure their food, non-food, health, water and accommodation needs.
Mrs. Maryam, a mother of three sons and a girl who were displaced from the Zarkan area, talks about how she slept with her children in a nearby field for three days with high temperatures during the day and cold temperatures at night to secure a way out of the area targeted by the occupation’s missiles and artillery.
Since the beginning of the displacement of people to shelter centers in the city of Hasakah, the Relief Sub-Committee has not stopped providing the displaced families’ needs for food, non-food items and health care.
The Director of Social Affairs and Labor Ibrahim Khalaf said that, the committee, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch and a number of charitable societies, provided food baskets to the displaced families. They also provided bread, mineral water, and medical teams in the shelter centers.
“The relief efforts continue with the aim of securing the families’ needs”, Khalaf added.
