The suffering of one million citizens in Hasakah increases as the Turkish occupation continues to cut off drinking water

Hasakah,( ST) – The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in the city of Ras al-Ain, north of Hasakah governorate continue their crime of stopping the Alouk water station from working for the 75th day in a row so depriving nearly one million citizens of the only water source in light of the increasing need for it.

The Public Water Establishment and the humanitarian organizations supporting it have exerted every possible   effort to secure the people’s need for clean, sterilized drinking water.

The Director of the Public Water Establishment in Hasakah Governorate, Eng. Mahmoud Al-Akla said in a statement to SANA reporter that Alouk water station is still completely suspended, as a result of the attacks on it by the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries with missiles.

Al-Akla pointed out that the Establishment is working to secure part of the people’s drinking water needs through temporary alternatives. He said that the Establishment has recently conducted maintenance in the Nafasha Water Project, east of the city of Hasakah, where there is a water source to fill the special tanks that feed the city with water and is working to put the project into force.

For his part, the Head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) branch, Ali Mansour indicated that efforts excreted to secure the people’s need for water are continuing, as the Red Crescent branch, with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Action against Hunger Organization provide the neighborhoods of Hasakah city with drinking water by filling 400 tanks with a capacity of 5 cubic meters each.

The people of the city of Hasakah called on the UN bodies and international organizations to adopt a clear and denouncing stance towards the war crime committed by the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries by cutting off water for a million citizens who have no water source other than Alouk Station.

The people stressed the need to hold the Turkish regime accountable for this crime, which contradicts the charters of the United Nations. They pointed out that it will exacerbate health risks, diseases and epidemics, especially with the spread of cholera in the governorate and the need for clean and sterile water to limit the spread of the disease.
