The Storm” Graduation project for the third batch of the Faculty of Performing Arts” at Al-Manara University

On the stage of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Acting Department, the students of the third batch presented their graduation project for the first semester with a theatrical performance for  William Shakespeare entitled (The Storm) directed by  Fouad Hassan at Al-Manara University, which was established years ago and gave an opportunity for distinguished young people who wish to study to achieve their ambition and goal.

 

The student Hamdi Abd al Rahman Hajira spoke about his character, saying:

The character “Prospero”, is the Duke of Milan who was betrayed by his brother, and he and his daughter Miranda were brutally exiled from his Dukedom, but Prospero, with his magical power, was able to take revenge on all those who conspired against him, and regained his legitimate right and returned to his place. Later he forgives everyone who has wronged him. He also gives up his magical powers.

Director Fouad Hassan, a professor at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, pointed out that the graduation project is the first appearance for the students in front of the audience, so that the student exerts all his energy and effort to succeed.With regard to preparation for work, clothing, decoration, lighting and sound effects, they are all prepared and designed by students and professors at the college.

Maysam Kahilah, a theater teacher at the college said : We were concerned with making the actor in all aspects (acting, movement, sensory aspects, sound, dance…). The show required physical specifications, and roles in the play were distributed according to physical capabilities and specifications.

Dean of the College, Dr. Samer Omran and Head of the Admissions Committee, confirmed that acceptance and selection come after 15-day tests that include attendance, voice, intelligence, emotion, quick wit, and dependence on imagination and fitness.
