The start of the electoral conference of the General Union of craftsmen

On August 1st, the electoral conference of the General Union of Craftsmen for the thirteenth session was launched in the Sahara Tourist Complex in Damascus, under the slogan (Hope for perfection to increase production).  

The heads and members of the branches of the General Union of Craftsmen in the provinces will elect the Union’s General Council.

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Eng. Hilal Al-Hilal, pointed out that the craft activity was one of the first goals of the aggression against Syria.

In turn, Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh referred to the government’s endeavor to work and cooperate with all concerned parties to mitigate the effects of the systematic terrorist and economic war waged on Syria.

Minister Sabbagh indicated that the Ministry of Industry, as the administrative supervisor of the work of the General Union of Craftsmen, considers that the time has come for dialogue and action that brings together all concerned parties within objective and scientific frameworks to enhance the cooperation of craftsmen.

Minister Sabbagh revealed that the ministry is considering amending Decree 250 regulating the work of the General Union of Craftsmen to fit the requirements of the current and future phase and the work of craft associations within clear foundations and standards that maintain the close relationship between the craftsman and his organization.

For his part, the Chairman of the General Union of Craftsmen, Naji Al-Haddwa, stressed the union’s keenness to activate the craftsman’s organizational work and find the best ways to attract craftsmen to their associations and craft organization, and to develop objective plans and constructive proposals to overcome difficulties.

Al-Hadwa pointed out that the number of craft establishments has reached more than 150,000 craft establishments operating in the economic, production, tourism, service and heritage fields and contribute to the provision of services and goods of all kinds to local markets.

The conference was attended by Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, and members of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, Yasser Al-Shoufi and Ammar Al-Sibai.
