The start of cotton crop cultivation in Al-Hasakah

Al-Hasakah –(ST)- The area of the cultivated land with cotton in Al-Hasakah since last week until now has exceeded 525 hectares, and the cultivation of the crop continues and gradually expands until the middle of next month, according to the head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal.

In a statement to a SANA reporter, Bilal explained that since last week, Al-Hasakah farmers have begun planting their lands with cotton, which is one of the main crops grown in the governorate during the summer period, along with vegetable crops. Its cultivation is distributed in various areas where there are permanent water sources used for irrigation  in the north and west of the governorate and the countryside of the cities of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli.

Bilal pointed out that the plan to plant cotton for the summer season reached 5,450 hectares.
