The Speaker meets Ambassador of Armenia in Damascus

DAMASCUS, March.17, (ST)- The Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] Hammoudah Sabbagh said on Thursday that the relations between Syria and Armenia are deep-rooted and strong, stressing the importance of enhancing them, particularly in the parliamentary field.
 
Sabbagh’s remarks came during his meeting with the Ambassador of Armenia in Damascus, Dikran Kevorkian. 
 
The speaker affirmed that the Syrian People’s Assembly had  issued a historic resolution condemning the Turkish massacres committed against the Armenians.
 
Sabbagh added that the Turkish regime is repeating its crimes in Syria through occupying lands and looting resources of wheat, oil, and antiquities, in a barbaric manner and in violation of the UN charters.
 
For his part, the Armenian ambassador referred to the history and common denominators which bring together the people of the two friendly countries extending for more than a thousand years, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
 
He expressed his country’s willingness to activate the parliamentary and popular relations with Syria.
