Moscow, (ST) – Director of the 2nd Department of CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Bolchuk announced that Russian soldiers have the situation under control at the Chernobyl and Zaporozhye nuclear power plants.
Sputnik quoted Bolchuk as saying in a statement on Tuesday that the two stations are operating normally and the radiation background is normal, which was confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency. He stressed that the main efforts are now aimed at preventing provocations against vital infrastructure facilities by the Ukrainian forces.
After the provocation of Ukrainian nationalists earlier this month in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, “this issue has become particularly relevant,” Bolchuk said.
