On March 17th, the Iranian naval authorities announced the sinking of an Emirati transport ship off the coast of Bushehr Governorate in the south of the country.
The Iranian naval authorities said that work was underway to rescue the crew.
“A ship transporting Emirati vehicles sank off the governorate’s port of Asalouyeh,” IRNA quoted the head of the Safety Department at the Ports and Maritime Navigation Department in the governorate as saying.
He added that as soon as the maritime authorities in the governorate reported the news that the vessel was in danger of sinking, they sent two tugs to rescue it, but the weather conditions prevented that which led to its sinking.
He pointed out that the naval piece Naji 18 was at the scene of the accident to rescue 30 people who were on board the stricken Emirati ship.
