Activities of the second folklore festival kicked off on Monday at Tishreen Gallery of Fine Arts in Aleppo province marking the Syrian Heritage Days.
A number of figures, who are interested in heritage, were honored in addition to the opening of a historical documents exhibition.
Director of Culture in Aleppo Jaber Al-Sajour told SANA that the five-day festival also includes traditional artistic concerts that are broadcast live on the Culture Directorate’s Facebook page, in addition to delivering a lecture and carrying out a workshop on the flute.
He indicated that the exhibition of historical documents by the researcher Dr. Muhammad Khatami includes 100 historical documents about the city of Aleppo and a number of papers and service documents dating back 100 years ago.
Al-Sajour underlined that these documents are a collection of receipts, property papers, financial, service, real estate and judicial documents, as well as personal documents . They are considered an indication of the social and economic situation during that period in the city of Aleppo.
On his part, artist Omar Sarmini highlighted the fact that the honoring of those who have had a positive and a key role in preserving the Syrian heritage, gives an incentive and motivation for the continuation of activity, giving and creativity.
Among the honored figures in the festival is Engineer Abdul Hadi Hardan, Head of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Society for the Rehabilitation of Antiquities and Crafts.
He stressed that this cultural event gives a “great impetus” for the reconstruction of the homeland..
