The  School Nursery Project In Damascus Kicks Off

Damascus-(ST)- The Ministry of Education in cooperation with the International Youth Chamber and the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture  launched on Tuesday the second of July  the school nursery project, which is being held within the stages of the Green School Project to promote sustainable development goals and the culture of interest in green spaces, at the School of Behavioral Applications in Damascus.

Minister of Education, Dr. Muhammad Amer Al-Mardini, pointed out that the aim of the project is to teach students the importance of agriculture and of preserving the environment, especially since Syria is an agricultural country.

Children must be taught about the importance of the culture of agriculture from an early age which will  reflect  positively   on the environment .He  stressed the ministry’s constant keenness to develop all the aspects of technical ,cultural, sports and agricultural fields  among students.

The head of the Young International Chamber in Damascus, Muhammad Jihad al-Hindi, pointed out that green recovery is one of the chamber’s projects to make people more aware of climate change and its effects on green cover. He explained that the chamber works through this experience to strengthen the child’s connection with green cover and his awareness of preserving plants by giving the child the chance to  plant  with his own hands.

In turn, Director of the Chamber of Agriculture of Damascus and its countryside, Haneen Al-Jarf, explained that the project is considered cultural, educational and environmental, aiming to enhance the culture of agriculture among children, indicating that the Chamber of Agriculture will provide trees and seedlings, in addition to awareness and education campaigns.

The event included artistic and theatrical performances about the importance of the environment presented by school students.
