Tartous (ST): The Russian-Syrian Peace Park was inaugurated in Jabal al-Sayida in Mashta al-Helou. The work on this park was implemented by the Russian General International Organization, the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society and the Russian Charitable Association “Rosar”.
In his speech, the Russian ambassador in Damascus, Alexander Yefimov, referred to the symbolism of the occasion that coincided with the Russian National Day and the victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the presidential elections, pointing out that the opening of the Peace Park is an expression of the strength of relations and cooperation between the Russian and Syrian sides.
In turn, Archbishop Basilius Mansour, Metropolitan of Akkar and its Greek Orthodox dependencies, considered that the opening of the park is a symbol of peace and fraternity between peoples, especially between the Russian and Syrian peoples.
Oleg Fomin, representative of the Imperial Palestinian-Russian Orthodox Society, explained in the speech of the Society’s president that a large number of the society’s founders are Syrians, adding that the Park on Syrian soil will become another symbol and memorial of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and will express joint efforts to restore the wheel of life to Syria which struggles against the forces of terrorism to achieve final victory.
