The Russian Foreign Ministry: Washington’s actions have brought the relationship with Moscow to no return point

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the United States, through its actions, has brought relations with Russia to a point of no return and must take into account Russia’s national interests.

Russia Today website quoted the Director of the North American Affairs Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Darchev, as saying today in a press interview that “Washington, through its hostile actions and arrogant disregard for Russian demands for legally binding security guarantees, including non-NATO expansion, non-deployment of offensive weapons near our borders, and the restoration of NATO’s military capabilities to the state of 1997, has actually brought Russian-US relations to the point of no return”.

“It is clear that Washington will need time to get used to the fact that its hegemony is something from  the past and it must reckon with the national interests of Russia, which has its own sphere of influence and responsibility,” Darchev said.

Darchev stressed that for the United States, Ukraine, whose bankrupt rulers have put it in a “disastrous situation,” is nothing but a tool in the geopolitical confrontation with Russia.
