The Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia is committed to supporting Syria in its war against terrorism and restoring security and stability
Moscow,(ST)- The Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated Russia’s solidarity with Syria in its fight against terrorism and restoring security and stability throughout the country. It noted that the terrorist escalation it is facing would not have been possible without the great support that terrorist organizations receive from foreign countries.
The ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing today: We express our solidarity with the leadership and people of Syria in this difficult situation, and we reaffirm our commitment to its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and we strongly support the efforts of the Syrian authorities to confront terrorist organizations.
: “We strongly condemn this attack, which was led by terrorists classified as such by the UN Security Council, and there is no doubt that they would not have carried out such an insolent act without the incitement and full support of external forces seeking to provoke a new round of armed confrontation in Syria.” Zakharova added.
Zakharova stressed that some countries’ support for terrorists in Syria would create serious security threats to the entire Middle East, expressing her hope that all countries that have an influence on this terrorist escalation would work to quickly restore security and stability.
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia confirmed yesterday that terrorists in Syria receive support from the United States and its allies. He pointed to the role of Ukrainian intelligence in training terrorists there and supplying them with weapons.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed last October that the Kiev regime is training militants from the terrorist organization “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” in Syria in coordination with the Americans.
