Damascus (ST): The Rural Women’s Pavilion of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, located in the “Family Market” in Damascus, summarized the products of the various Syrian governorates, whether food or handicrafts, for which each is famous.
The pavilion narrates through its products the stories of handicrafts and food industries such as jams, cheese, dairy, dried vegetables, fruits, juices, olives, makdous and molasses, honey products, distillation of medicinal and aromatic plants, grain crushing and preservation, the manufacture of derivatives of the Damascene rose from “syrup, oils and distillates”, in addition to making pottery, baskets, weaving on looms, pots, straw, bamboo, all kinds of soap, natural silk, and many traditional rural industries.
Engineer Suzan Rostom from the Directorate of Agricultural and Family Rural Development explained that their goal in participating in the festival is to market, promote and introduce the products of the rich and distinguished Syrian countryside and make direct communication between productive families in the countryside and consumers, noting that the products in the pavilion are made by rural families or manufacturing units of the Ministry of Agriculture and are sold at acceptable prices and completely free of preservatives and colorings, as the best and finest materials have been selected from all governorates.
The pavilion includes products for women from the Al-Ghab Plain in Hama governorate, including excellent quality molokhia at 10,000 Syrian pounds per kilogram, sheep ghee at 28 thousand Syrian pounds, and beef 25 thousand pounds per kilogram, in addition to Freekeh and bulgur, while Lattakia governorate participated in pomegranate molasses materials at 10,000 pounds per kilogram.
