The Red Crescent Organization condemns the terrorist attacks against its volunteers in Idlib

Damascus, (ST) – The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) condemned the terrorist attacks on their volunteers and the seizure of their property in the cities of Idlib and Ariha.

The organization said in a statement that the terrorist groups broke into its branch building in Idlib, Ariha and health centers ofRed Crescent, assaulted the present volunteers, and destroying and looting the assets of the Red Crescent and its offices, and seized its buildings.

The organization stressed that the blatant attack on its branch in Idlib and Ariha constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity, holding those who control these areas and their supporters fully responsible.


SARC called for respecting international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, calling for helping the SARC branches and volunteers and allowing them to resume their humanitarian activities, which include providing locals with food, medical services, and aid convoys.


In a related context, the International Committee of the Red Cross expressed its deep concern that these groups had stormed the office and branch of the Red Crescent branch in Idlib in the city of Ariha, detained the Red Crescent staff and volunteers, destroyed property and acquired humanitarian aid.

In the same context, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed in a statement deep concern over this incident, stressing the need for respecting and protecting humanitarian relief workers.

 

The cities of Idleb and Ariha are under the control of terrorist groups, most of which are affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra terror organization, and they besiege locals, use them as human shields, prevent them from leaving via humanitarian corridors, and hijack aid convoys.
