On May 21st, the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission renewed its condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s continued violations of the rights of prisoners in its detention centers, especially the sick ones.
The Commission stated that the Israeli occupation continues the slow killing of sick prisoners with chronic diseases or who have been subjected to a disability, as a result of having been shot at directly.
The Commission called on the World Health Organization to prepare specialized medical teams to see the cases of sick prisoners in the occupation detention centers, conduct the necessary medical examinations for them due to the deterioration of their health conditions, and prepare the necessary reports to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes that violate international humanitarian law.
About 5,000 Palestinian prisoners inside the occupation jails face harsh detention conditions, including about 600 who need urgent medical intervention, as a result of the policy of deliberate medical neglect against them.
