The club explained in a statement today, reported by Wafa Agency, that the prisoner Abu Hamid, 49, from Al-Amari camp in Ramallah, who has been detained since 2002, suffers from lung cancer and is now going through a very critical stage in the “Ashkelon” prison, and his health is rapidly deteriorating closer to the point of death, pointing out that he is suffering from severe pain, severe slimness, inability to walk, and permanently accompanied by an oxygen tube.
The club indicated that the prisoner Abu Hamid had undergone a tumor removal on the lung and a scraping of approximately 10 cm of the tumor’s circumference and he needed chemotherapy sessions and extensive medical monitoring, but the occupation authorities were procrastinating in providing the necessary treatment and abused him, which brought him to a dangerous stage.
The club called on the international community to take urgent action to rescue the prisoner Abu Hamid and put pressure on the occupation to stop the policy of deliberate medical negligence that led to the death of dozens of sick prisoners.
