The President of Sri Lanka accepts the credentials of Ambassador Al-Khatib as a non-resident ambassador to Syria

Colombo (ST): The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Raranil Wickremesinghe, accepted the credentials of Ambassador Dr. Bassam Al-Khatib, as the non-resident ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Sri Lanka.

During the meeting today in Kandy, Wickremesinghe wished for the return of stability and security to Syria, and stressed the importance of strengthening the historical friendship between Sri Lanka and Syria, and expressed his readiness to support efforts to raise the level of these relations.

The credentials presentation ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Taraka Balasuriyya.
