The preparatory meetings of the Arab summit continue in Jeddah with the participation of Syria

Jeddah, (ST) – Within the Preparatory meetings of the forthcoming Arab summit, a meeting for the Arab delegates and senior officials began on Tuesday in Jeddah with the participation of a Syrian delegation led by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ayman Soussan .

In his speech during the meeting, Soussan said that Syria is greatly interested in joint Arab action and in strengthening its relation with Arab countries bilaterally and collectively.  He thanked Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all the other countries for welcoming Syria’s participation in the forthcoming Arab summit.

SANA’s correspondents in Jeddah reported that the Syrian delegation participating in today’s meeting includes Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Bassam Al-Sabbagh, Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Abbas, Director of the International Organizations and Conferences Department Qusai Al-Dahhak and Syria’s permanent representative to the Arab League in Cairo Basil Scotty.

The Algerian ambassador to Cairo and the permanent representative to the Arab League Hamid Shabira said in a speech during the meeting: “We again welcome the presence of the Syrian delegation in these meetings, and we stress the need for unity and solidarity among Arab countries”.

In a speech after assuming the presidency of the meeting of delegates and senior officials, the Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Ambassador Abd Al-Rahman Ibrahim Al-Rassi welcomed the Syrian delegation participating in the meeting, wishing them success.

Ambassador Al-Rassi said that Saudi Arabia has extended its hand to its brothers starting from its belief in the importance of joint Arab action and it will continue to work to follow up on this matter and to complete the Arab League’s march.
