The policy of banning visas on Russians will not gain European consensus, says Borrell

Brussels, (ST) – EU Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell has announced that the policy of a complete ban on the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians will not gain EU consensus.

“In my view a complete visa ban for all Russians for any reason is not a good idea, and I don’t think cutting ties with the civilian population of Russia will work, and I don’t think this idea will have unanimous support in the European Union, according to TASS.

Borrell expressed his confidence that the foreign ministers of the European Union countries will reach a “balanced solution” to this issue during their meeting in Prague tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss a unified position on the issue of visas for Russian citizens.
