Damascus (ST): The People’s Assembly affirmed that the Syrian Arab Golan is present in the minds and conscience of the Syrians, stressing the continuity of struggle and resistance to restore usurped rights with the courage of our army and the strength of our internal front.
The Assembly said in a statement on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Israeli occupation entity’s decision to annex the occupied Syrian Arab Golan on the fourteenth of December 1981: “Today, on the fourteenth of December, we remember the forty-first anniversary of the abhorrent Israeli entity’s decision to annex the occupied Syrian Arab Golan,” stressing that this illegal decision drew Arab, regional and international condemnation, especially Security Council Resolution No. 497 of December 17, 1981, in which the occupying entity’s decision was considered null and void and without legal effect.
The Assembly referred to the resolution issued by the United Nations General Assembly several days ago, which calls on the occupying entity to end its occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan, as well as the resolution affirming that the Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are illegal.
It added: The Zionist occupation government, despite its persistence in its intransigence, did not comply with all widespread international condemnations and demands, and worked to implement its decision by following a fait accompli policy through its arbitrary measures against the people to subjugate them and force them to give up their belonging to the Syrian motherland and their Syrian- Arab identity, which was strongly rejected by the sons of Our dear Golan, they resisted and faced these measures and clung to their identity and homeland as the only and final option for their present and future.
The Assembly indicated that after more than 11 years have passed since the most severe war that we have experienced in confronting the forces of evil and aggression, the occupation forces’ violation of international laws and resolutions was not limited to continuing to occupy the Syrian Golan, but rather to using those occupied lands to be a corridor for terrorists coming from different parts of the world to the Syrian lands, noting that this entity is at the head of the terrorist forces that participated among themselves in desperate attempts to divert the Syrian compass and divert its attention from the main concern in the fateful battle with the Zionist entity to liberate the usurped Arab lands, foremost of which is the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.
