The People’s Assembly’s members demand to control prices and justice in electricity programs

On October 31st , the People’s Assembly( Parliament), under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Assembly Hamouda Sabbagh, continued discussing the articles of the new financial bill for administrative units.

The People’s Assembly approved the sixth and seventh articles of the draft bill, which were previously discussed by the Local Administration and Urban Development Committee of the People’s Assembly and made several amendments to them.

The People’s Assembly referred Article 12 of the draft bill to the Local Administration and Urban Development Committee to discuss it again and prepare the necessary report on it.

A number of People’s Assembly’s members objected to the increase in the value of the fee collected by the administrative unit in exchange for a permit for each new building, rebuilding or making additions to the building, estimated at 1% of the total value per square meter of land.

At the beginning of the session, the People’s Assembly heard a presentation by the Minister of State for People’s Assembly Affairs Abdullah Abdullah on the most prominent decisions, procedures and topics taken during the latest Cabinet session related to service and living issues.

Following Minister Abdullah’s presentation, a number of People’s Assembly’s members called for an increase in the fuel allocations for the total deficit wounded to 200 liters, and the necessity for local administration units, in cooperation with the police, to control and monitor the transport lines in the rural of governorates, and to oblige buses drivers to work on these lines after ensuring the fuel for them.

Some members called for ensuring diesel fuel for farmers, supporting citrus farmers, especially at the cost of irrigation and transportation, raising the family compensation levels for the employee’s wife and children, granting a unified and longer maternity leave to working mothers regardless of the number of children, and achieving justice in electrical rationing hours.

A number of members pointed out the need to limit the approval of investment projects to the Supreme Council for Investment and to form a central committee to inspect the factories and companies licensed and suspended due to terrorism.

In response to the People’s Assembly’s members’ demands, the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, confirmed that the ministry is conducting a study on the status of rented parking lots in a way that eases the burden on citizens in residential areas.
