The People’s Assembly receives notification that Faten Ali Nahar, (first female applicant), has applied to run for presidential elections

Speaker of the People’s Assembly (PA) Hammouda Al-Sabbagh on Tuesday said that the assembly received  notification from the Supreme Constitutional Court that Faten Ali Al-Nahar has applied to run for the presidential elections. Al-Nahar is the first female applicant and the PA has so far received three applications for candidacy.

On Sunday and during an extraordinary session of the parliament, Sabbagh announced that the door will be open to run for president as of April, 19, 2021, setting May, 26, 2021 as the date of holding the country’s presidential elections.

On Monday, Sabbagh received two notifications from the Supreme Constitutional Court that Abdullah Salloum Abdullah and Mohammad Firas Yasin Rajjouh had applied to run for president.
