The people of Halko and Tati districts in Qamishli express their suffering due to the ongoing SDF militias siege and crimes against them

The US-backed SDF militias continue their siege on the Tai and Halko districts in the city of Qamishli. This siege causes a humanitarian crisis and prevents  the entry of all foodstuffs and the passage of emergency cases.

Mrs. Fatima Al-Aswad, a resident of Halko district said: “ The SDF militiamen beat me and confiscated the bread that I tried to bring for my family after waiting for four hours.”

Mrs. Amsha Al-Saleh was prevented by the SDF from hospitalizing her three-year-old daughter Basma Sharabi which led to the child’s death.

Al-Saleh said: “The practices of the SDFmilitias against civilians are crimes against humanity amid the silence of the international community and the UN human rights bodies.”

Hammoud Al-Ramadan, a resident of Halko neighborhood, said:

“The militiamen prevented food supplies from entering the neighborhood for more than 20 days, and homes have started to run out of foodstuff.”

Naba’a Yusuf Al-Abdullah said: “Today I cooked macaroni with water without oil to feed my children, and it is the last thing I have in the house. What is the fault of the people of Halko to be punished in this inhuman way.”

Salem Al-Hawija, a resident of the Tai neighborhood, said : “ The people of the Tai and Halko neighborhoods are steadfast in the face of all these crimes and we will not allow them to blackmail us by starving us.”

Abd al-Sattar al-Ali said that foodstuffs have not entered his home for twenty days, and he depended on what had stored in previous times.

He said that the SDF militias prevented his wife from reaching the doctor despite her difficult health condition.

On January 31st, the SDF militias fired live bullets at the protesters in the city of Hasakah. The protesters demanded the lifting of the siege on the city of Hasakah.
