The Parliament Of Slovenia Recognizes the Palestinian State

Ljubljana-(ST)- On Tuesday, the Slovenian Parliament approved, by a majority of votes, the country’s government’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

Agence France-Presse reported that the Slovenian Parliament approved recognition of the State of Palestine with the voting of 52 out of 90 deputies in favor of the decision, while after the opposition boycotted the session.

This step came a week after a similar step taken by Spain, Ireland and Norway, to recognize the State of Palestine.

In turn, the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on the X platform: “Slovenia officially recognized Palestine as an independent and sovereign state.”

Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon pointed out that Slovenia’s decision “in this regard is a message of hope and peace to the Palestinian people.”
