The Palestinians reject the Israeli occupation’s approval of a law authorizing the execution of prisoners
The Israeli occupation government last Sunday approved a draft bill which authorise the execution of Palestinian prisoners.
Palestinian personalities and institutions affirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval of the law on authorising the execution of prisoners is a war crime and a clear violation of international agreements and laws. They stressed that such an approval will not discourage the Palestinian people from continuing the resistance and struggle until all their legitimate national rights are restored.
The Palestinian Minister of Justice, Muhammad al-Shalaldeh, stated in a statement reported by WAFA Agency that this racist law, which was approved by the occupation a few days ago, represents an international war crime punishable by law, because it violates the Sixth and Fourth Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the First Protocol annexed to the Geneva Convention of 1977. It constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and human rights principles, the minister added, pointing out that the Palestinians will continue their international movement until the United Nations General Assembly adopts a resolution labeling the occupying entity as an apartheid regime.
For its part, the Legal Center for Palestinian Prisoners stated that the occupation arrested the prisoners because of their struggle for freedom and independence, explaining that their right to struggle is guaranteed in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law, which guarantees the right of peoples to resist the occupation.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club indicated that the law of executing prisoners comes within the framework of the escalating steps through which the minister in the occupation government, Itamar Ben Gvir, is trying to harass the prisoners, indicating that the occupation authorities practice daily killings against the Palestinian people and their prisoners, with or without these laws, and no matter how serious their crimes are.
Fatah movement pointed out that the occupation seeks, through these laws, which constitute a flagrant violation of international laws and decisions, to practice the most heinous methods of terrorism calling on the international community to intervene immediately and oblige the occupation to implement international laws and agreements.
In turn, Karim Younis, the dean of the freed Palestinian prisoners, who spent 40 years in the occupation detention centers, affirmed that the Palestinians are a resistant people who are ready to sacrifice their souls for their land, and this law will not discourage them from continuing to confront the occupation until it is defeated and the land is liberated.
