Tomorrow, the Palestinians and the world will commemorate the International Al-Quds Day. Palestinians worshippers’ continue with their sit-in at Al-Aqsa Mosque to defend it against the Israeli occupation’s plans to Judaize it, stressing that Al-Quds (Jerusalem) will remain the eternal capital of Palestine and all the occupation’s attempts to empty city of the Palestinians and to falsify its history, and obliterate its civilized identity are doomed to failure.
The International Committee for the Revival of International Jerusalem Day called for organizing this year’s events in Palestine and various countries of the world under the slogan “The West Bank is the Shield of Jerusalem”, in appreciation of the courage of the West Bank heroes who are establishing a new phase of struggle that overturns the occupation’s accounts, and imposes around Jerusalem a fortified shield that preserves its identity and future. It stressed that the city, which is exposed to serious attacks by the occupation forces and its settlers, who do not hesitate to try to desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque, will remain the priority of the resistance fighters in the Arab and Islamic nation and the world.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Ahmed Al-Mudallal, a member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Jihad Movement, said: The International Jerusalem Day, which falls on the last Friday of Ramadan, comes this year in complex and difficult circumstances facing the city, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque, due to the plans it is exposed to that aim to obliterate its Arab and Islamic civilizational identity. The Palestinian people face these circumstances with steadfastness to assure the occupation and the whole world that it will not abandon Jerusalem, no matter the sacrifices, and will mobilize all energies to liberate it.
Al-Mudallal indicated that the occupation is trying today to impose a dangerous Judaizing reality in Al-Aqsa by intensifying settler incursions, attacking and arresting Palestinian worshipers, and obstructing their access to the mosque in a serious violation of freedom of worship. He stressed that the Palestinian people are fighting a battle of identity and existence in Al-Aqsa, noting that their unity in the squares deterred the brutal occupation and prevented it from persisting in its aggression against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
For his part, a member of the Central Committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Osama al-Haj Ahmad, stressed that the continuation of the Palestinian people’s commemoration of the International Jerusalem Day is a message to the occupation that the battle to liberate Jerusalem continues, and that it will not be allowed to Judaize it. He pointed out that all the resistance forces are united today in the face of the occupation, challenging its racist measures and aggressive practices.
In his turn, Hassan Khater, Director of Al-Quds International Center, pointed out that the International Jerusalem Day comes while the Israeli occupation is violating the sanctity of Al-Aqsa during the blessed month of Ramadan, in a dangerous indication of a systematic plan of the occupation to target Al-Aqsa, after the Judaization and excavations dangerously reached under it and in its surroundings.
Khater stressed that Jerusalem represents the priority of the Palestinian people’s resistance and this uprising in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa is one of the fruits of the International Jerusalem Day, which unites the nation behind its central cause, which is Jerusalem, to continue defending it, strengthening the steadfastness of its people, and mobilizing energies for its liberation and solidarity with it.
