The Palestinian National Council welcomes the adoption of the designation of the State of Palestine by the International Atomic Energy Agency

Vienna (ST): The Palestinian National Council welcomed the vote of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency on the draft resolution to officially adopt the designation “State of Palestine” in the international Agency, during the session that took place yesterday as part of the 67th session of the conference at the Agency’s headquarters in the Austrian capital, Vienna.

The Council affirmed in a statement, reported by the Palestinian Wafa Agency, that the International Agency’s adoption of the resolution entitled “The Status of Palestine in the International Atomic Energy Agency” is an important step by the International Atomic Energy Agency, and will be followed by further steps to recognize the State of Palestine, explaining that this resolution is a clear condemnation of the practices of the Israeli occupation of illegal expansion and annexation in violation of international laws.

The Council thanked all the countries that supported the decision, which comes within the framework of Palestinian efforts to obtain full membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency and other international and UN agencies.
