The Palestinian Issue in the Spotlight at the Middle East Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club

The participants in the 13th Middle East Conference of the Russian Valdai Discussion Club confirmed that the Middle East region is witnessing severe tension and is open to all possibilities as a result of the crimes of “Israel” and the United States against the Palestinian people and the countries of the region.

During their intervention in the Conference sessions, the speakers indicated that the key to peace in the Middle East lies in establishing The Palestinian State, on the borders of June 4, 1967. They pointed out the negative role of the United States and its encouragement of Israeli governments to continue their tension, reject the two-state solution, and continue the policy of exterminating the Palestinian people in the absence of any role for international law and international legitimacy.

The speakers stressed that the United States considered the region an area of its vital interests and does not want Russia and China to have any effective role in resolving issues in the Middle East, despite the transition taking place today from a unipolar world to multipolarity.

In his speech before the forum, Dr. Afif Yousef Haider, Professor in the Department of Economics and Planning at the Faculty of Economics at Tishreen University, stressed that the international system witnessed important changes after a long period of American hegemony over the countries of the world, which produced a number of conflicts and tensions, which led to the rise of new actors in international relations in an attempt to break unipolarity, and this was highlighted by the Russian role in the Middle East.

The 13th Middle East Conference of the Russian Valdai Discussion Club held in Moscow with the support of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences during 14, 15 February, titled “Time for decisive action: a comprehensive settlement for the sake of stability in the region”, with the participation of  about  50 international and Russian experts and political figures from 16 countries.
