The Palestinian Foreign Ministry: The Israeli occupation’s attacks on sanctities are a violation of international law
On April 23rd, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed its call on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards the attacks and violations against the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces and settlers.
The Ministry stated that this violation of the occupation and other forms of continuous aggression against the Islamic and Christian holy sites and historical and heritage sites in occupied Palestine flagrantly violates international law and the Geneva Conventions.
The Ministry said these attacks are fresh evidence of the Israeli occupation government’s intentions to escalate the conflict in the region.
The Ministry said these attacks are part of the colonial occupation’s plans to perpetuate the theft and Judaization of the Ibrahimi Mosque by changing its historical and cultural features and identity.
The Ministry called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the relevant international organizations to break their silence, condemn the arbitrary practices of the occupation, activate fact-finding committees to find out the details of the Judaization of these historical and worship places.
For his part, the Palestinian Minister of Endowments, Hatem Al-Bakri, confirmed that the occupation has recently increased the pace of its attacks on the mosque by harassing the Palestinians and closing its gates, in continuation of its settlement plan to seize it completely.
Al-Bakri called on the Palestinian people to intensify their presence and sit ins inside the Haram and its squares in order to thwart the occupation’s plans that aim at Judaizing it.
