As every year, the palace of culture in Banias has started its summer activities that involve as many children as possible, with the aim of using the time for their benefit.
About the activities, Razan Hassan, the head of the Department of children’s culture, said: “this year’s activities are based on the directives of the Directorate of Culture and the focus will be on reading in general, the public library and the children’s library. The activities will also include targeted films followed by a discussion on these films to see how the child responds. We will also hold art workshops on handicrafts and drawing, in addition to a heritage activity about intangible heritage in Banias and in Syria in general.”
Moreover, Hasan said “focus will be put on interactive games to improve communication among children and teach them team playing. We will also hold exhibitions that include works for children through which they will know that they are able to help their parents and that any profession they can learn will be a good thing for them and for other children. We will also activate the role of the theater and the choir to teach them harmony.”
Hasan noted that the activities included chess playing under the supervision of coaches working to prepare a team for chess competitions.
Finally, she explained that more than 120 children between 14 – 15 of age are taking part in the activities.
