Today marks the 48th anniversary of the October Liberation War which witnessed the humiliating defeat of the Israeli enemy in front of the Syrian Arab Army.
The war led by the late leader Hafez A-Assad in 1973, aimed to liberate the occupied Arab lands and restore the usurped rights. It was the first war in the Arab-Zionist conflict that revived optimism after the Naksa in June 1967 and proved that Syria is the forefront in defense of the existence and future of the Arab nation.
The victory of the October Liberation War embodied the will and determination of the Syrians, the strength of the army and armed forces, the greatness of their loyalty to the homeland and sacrifice for the sake of its pride, dignity and sovereignty.
The October liberation formed an impenetrable fortress against the ambitions of the Zionists to expand and usurp more Arab land until the beginning of the seventies, when the valiant army fought the October war and destroyed the legend of the “invincible army” of the enemy.
After its defeat, the Israeli enemy tried to occupy South Lebanon in 1982, but the Syrian Arab Army confronted this aggression, offering many sacrifices and then it supported the Lebanese Resistance until it managed to expel the Israeli occupation forces and liberate south Lebanon in the year 2000.
The 48th anniversary of the October Liberation War comes while security and stability are restored to most parts of Syria thanks to the Syrian Arab Army’s successive victories over the foreign-backed terrorists groups that have been trying for more than nine years to destroy and undermine Syria to serve their interests and aggressive goals.
Syria’s current war on terrorism is not less important than the October Liberation War as it is a war against proxies and terrorists tools that aim at implementing the agendas of the Zionist entity.
