The occupation forces obstruct Palestinians from confronting Corona virus, says Palestinian Foreign Ministry

Occupied al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community and the relevant international organizations, especially the World Health Organization, to assume its responsibilities and obligate the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their violations and racist measures against the people of occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned, in a statement today the storming of the occupation forces to the town of Silwan and raiding the Palestinian medical headquarter in the town with the aim of limiting the spread of the Corona Virus, Wafa News Agency reported.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry pointed out that the measures of racist occupation have escalated since the beginning of the outbreak of the Corona epidemic with the aim of obstructing the movement of Palestinians in occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) to confront this epidemic.
The Ministry demanded that UNRWA assumes its responsibilities towards preventing Palestinian medical and UNRWA staff from working in occupied al-Quds( Jerusalem) to combat Coronavirus.

 

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced three new cases of coronavirus, in the cities of Hebron and Ramallah, in addition to 227 cases in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip and 78 cases in occupied al- Quds (Jerusalem).

 

80 Palestinian initiatives to combat coronavirus

In the same context, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Wasil Abu Yousef confirmed in a statement to SANA that the occupation is committing a crime against humanity by preventing Palestinian from combating the Corona epidemic, especially in al-Quds( Jerusalem), indicating that the settlers infected with the Corona virus have intensified their attacks on Palestinians in al-Quds with the aim of spreading the virus, displacing them, seizing their lands and establishing more settlement units.

Abu Yusef pointed out that 80 Palestinian institutions in al-Quds have launched a joint initiative to combat the Corona virus and protect the people of the city from the epidemic and prevent its spread among them, noting that the occupation exploits the epidemic to intensify settlement and Judaization operations in Jerusalem and plans to establish 410 settlement units in Jabal Al-Mukaber.

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Al-Barghouthi said that the occupation authorities discriminate against the Palestinians, as they prevent medical examinations of the Coronavirus in al- Quds (Jerusalem), explaining that 74 percent of infections in Jerusalem and the West Bank are caused by the occupation, which intends to spread the virus among the Palestinians through the settlers afflicted with Corona.

Al-Barghouthi pointed out that the health situation in al Quds (Jerusalem) is extremely dangerous in light of the Palestinian people facing two epidemics at the same time, coronavirus and racial occupation.

The coordinator of the Popular Campaign to Resist the Wall and Settlement Salah Al-Khawaja pointed out that while the world is busy confronting Corona, the occupation continues its crimes against the Palestinian people and prevents medical staff from working in Jerusalem, stating that the occupation prevented the distribution of aid and sterilization materials and dissolved the popular committees in al-Quds (Jerusalem) and also prevented the Palestinians from accessing the medical centers.
