The National Progressive Front mourns the Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Union, Safwan Al-Qudsi
Damascus (ST): The Central Command of the National Progressive Front mourned a member of the Central Command; Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Union Party, Arab writer and thinker Safwan al-Qudsi, who passed away this morning at the age of 82.
The thinker al-Qudsi, who was born in Damascus in 1940, holds a BA in Philosophy from Damascus University.
The late writer held the position of editor-in-chief of Al-Ma’rifa magazine from 1974 to 1978, and editor-in-chief of Al-Mawqif Al-Adabi magazine from 1980 to 1981.
Al-Qudsi became a member of the People’s Assembly in 1977, was appointed Minister of State in 1978, and was elected Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Union Party in 1983, and has been a member of the central leadership of the National Progressive Front since 1981.
Al-Qudsi held the position of President of the General Conference of Arab Parties. He is also a member of the Arab Writers Union and has 11 books on politics, history and contemporary thought.
