The National Program for Early Hearing Detection and Intervention provides free tests and therapeutic health services
The launch of the National Program for Early Hearing Detection and Intervention in Newborns has contributed to increasing the number of people visiting hospitals and medical centers, designated for this purpose, to request this health service, according to the Director of Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health Razan Tarabishi.
Dr. Tarabishi indicated the importance of the program in terms of its positive impact on children in the first place, on their families, and on the society as a whole. Dr. Tarabishi further indicated the role of the program in raising the awareness of parents towards the necessity of conducting audiometric tests for their children.
According to Director of the Al-Zahrawi Hospital in Damascus, Dr. Ali Mohsen, the audiological scanning service is available free of charge from Sunday to Thursday every week, from nine o’clock to two o’clock in the afternoon.
The National Program for Early Detection and Early Intervention of Hearing Deficiency in Newborns was launched on the 12th of this month under the patronage and in the presence of First Lady Asma al-Assad. The program is implemented by the Ministries of Health, Higher Education, Defense, Interior, the Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities “Aamal” and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization.
