The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed contracts with Russian companies

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed on Tuesday three contracts with Russian companies in the field of petroleum and gas at the Ministry’s pavilion in Damascus International Fair.

From the Syrian side, the contracts were signed by General Director of the General Petroleum Corporation Bassam Touma and from the Russian side by General Directors of Vilada and Mercury companies. 

“On the sidelines of Damascus International Fair, we signed three contracts with three Russian companies for the excavation and production of petroleum and gas in the middle and eastern areas”,   Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem said.

These contracts are the product of the Syrian Russian economic cooperation and the outcome of joint cooperation protocol between the two countries and the road map signed between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Russian Ministry of Energy in 2018, Engineer Touam pointed out.

The signed contract aims to excavate petroleum over a large space and prepare the area for building infrastructure, General Director of Mercury Company stated, confirming that this contract will create many job opportunities in the fields relating to the company’s work.

General Director of Vilada Company affirmed that the contract is a result of 6-month negotiations and great efforts until the final formula has been reached, voicing their incessant work to boost economic cooperation between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect.
