The Ministry of Education discusses ways of cooperation with UNICEF

On November 7th, the Minister of Education, Dr. DaremTabbaa, discussed with Dr. GhadaKajah Ji, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria, ways to enhance cooperation between the ministry and the organization to serve the educational process on several axes.

The organization’s delegation included Brenda Hyebelk, consultant in the field of education, Marilyn Frenders, consultant in the field of education and adolescent development, Frederic Afolter, head of the education department, and Mickey Kweedy, coordinator of the education sector.

 

Minister Tabbaa stressed the importance of cooperation with UNICEF in order to achieve better teaching process for Syrian students, referring to the ministry’s plan in the field of returning school dropouts and integrating them through the category B curriculum.

The category B curriculumenables students to pass every two academic years with one year and work on teaching students one of the professions that enable them to carry out their own project through vocational education schools.

Minister Tabbaa referred to the ministry’s plan to rehabilitate schools in all governorates, and seek to support teachers in remote areasand developing their skills, and continuing to work in accordance with the health protocol to prevent the Corona virus.

For her part, Dr. Kajah Ji praised the continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Education in several areas, especially in the field of supporting interactive activities, life skills and emotional social learning.

Dr. Kajah Ji noted the importance of strengthening the role of vocational education to improve students’ skills and provide them with experiences that qualify them to enter the labor market.
