The Ministry of Culture announces the names of the winners of the State Appreciation Award for the year 2022

On July 3rd, the Ministry of Culture announced the names of the winners of the State Appreciation Award for the year 2022, as it went in the field of literature to Farhan Bulbul, in the field of arts to  the plastic artist Dr. Muhammad Ghanoum, and in the field of criticism, studies and translation to Dr. Fayez Al-Daya

Farhan Bulbul is a writer and theater director.He was born in the city of Homs in 1937. He graduated from the University of Damascus in 1960, the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, and began working in theater since 1968 in the artistic clubs in the city of Homs.

Bulbul also participated in the judging committees of a large number of Syrian and Arab theater festivals and was invited to a large number of them as a guest and lecturer.

As for Dr. Muhammad Ghanoum, he was born in Damascus in 1949, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University, Department of Interior Design. 

He holds a PhD in Art Sciences from Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He is a member of the Executive Office of the Syndicate of Fine Arts , and the first director of art education in Syria.

He has won many awards, the most important of which is the first prize at the Arabic Calligraphy Festival in Tehran and the first prize for calligraphy and music in France.

Dr. Fayez al-Daya was born in Douma in Damascus countryside in 1947. He holds a doctorate from Cairo University in 1978. 

He is a professor of criticism, rhetoric and semantics at the University of Aleppo, Faculty of Arts. He also taught at the universities of Tishreen, Sana’a and Kuwait.

He was appointed head of the Arabic language department at Aleppo University and head of the Arabic language department at Sana’a University.

Dr. Al-Daya also prepared many radio and television cultural programs in Damascus, Aleppo and Abu Dhabi. His books include (Semantic Aspects in Criticism of Poetry) in the fourth century AH, (Dictionary of Ancient Arabic Scientific Terms), (Semantic Stylistics in Arabic Literature) and Contemporary Arabic Connotation. 

Each of the three winners will be awarded a sum of one million Syrian pounds and a medal.

The winners will be honored and handed over the prizes at a date to be determined by the Ministry later.
