Damascus (ST): The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with the Secretary-General and Head of Administration at the Norwegian Church Aid Organization “NCA” Dagvin Huibratyn and the accompanying delegation the possibility of cooperation in the implementation of future projects that contribute to meeting the needs of citizens.

Minister Makhlouf hoped, during the meeting, that the opening of an office for the organization in Damascus would contribute to strengthening cooperation and making joint projects successful, which are agreed upon according to the needs and priorities identified by local communities in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development, the strategic national partner.

Minister Makhlouf pointed to the need to give the environmental aspect the necessary attention through the implementation of sanitation and sewage projects and renewable energies in a way that helps develop the regions in a developmental manner and meets the needs.

The representative of the Syrian Trust for Development pointed to the importance of the existing cooperation with the organization, noting the joint projects that were implemented in the field of renewable energies in Homs and Lattakia, calling for seeking to expand the implementation of these projects in other regions.

For his part, Huibratyn stressed the importance of seeking to expand cooperation with the Syrian government and work from within through the organization’s office in Syria, and not be limited to humanitarian aid to include the implementation of development programs and early recovery in order to meet the needs of citizens and empower them economically.
