The Minister of Culture meets with the President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information

The Minister of Culture, Dr. Labana Mashouhmet with the President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, Dr. Nabhan bin Harith Al-Harassi, and the accompanying delegation. 

The two sides discussed ways of cooperation to develop and enhance joint cultural work and exchange experiences in the library fields. 

The two sides stressed the necessity of activating digital technologies in preserving heritage and literary and scientific intellectual production, and discussed the possibility of cooperation to support and complete the project of automating the archive of the Al-Assad National Library

Dr. Mashouh stressed the importance of exchanging knowledge and information with library experts in the Arab world, and adapting technology in the fields of archiving and documenting intellectual production in order for readers and researchers to obtain information quickly, easily and with high efficiency.

In turn, Dr. Al-Harassi reviewed the areas of work of the Union and the expertise it possesses in the fields of archiving and electronic documentation, annual conferences, seminars, training and qualification courses, and publications of the Union

Dr. Al-Harassi stressed the need to invest information technology in the work of libraries, and invited  the Minister of Culture to attend the next annual conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries in the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Al-Assad National Library, Iyad Murshid, and the Director General of the Syrian General Authority for Books, Dr. Nayef Al-Yassin.
