On January 19th, the Lebanese parliament failed again to elect a new president for the republic.
The Lebanese National News Agency stated that none of the candidates for the post of President of the Republic obtained two-thirds of the votes of the 128 members of the parliament.
It is noteworthy that this session is the eleventh to elect a President of the Republic to succeed President Michel Aoun, whose term ended on the thirty-first of last October.
