The Lebanese Minister of Health announces a state of emergency due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic
On August 17, the Minister of Public Health in the Lebanese caretaker government Hamad Hassan announced the state of the general emergency due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic in the country, stressing the need for a general closure for a period of two weeks.
“We are facing a real challenge. The recent casualty figures are shocking. We need strong measures because the situation is no longer tolerable,” the Lebanese National News Agency quoted Hassan as saying in a radio interview.
On August 16, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the registration of 6 deaths and 439 new infections of Coronavirus, indicating that the total number of infections rose to 8,881, while the number of deaths reached 103.
