The national polio vaccination campaign begins today in Tartous, and will continue until Thursday in all health centers.
Dr. Ahmed Ammar, Director of Tartous Health, explained that this campaign targets 10,047 children under five years of age with the oral paralysis vaccine, regardless of the previous doses, with the participation of (685) trained and qualified health workers through (134) health centers distributed in various regions of the governorate, with the participation of (29) team, and all precautionary measures were taken in light of the Covid19 pandemic.
It is noteworthy that the vaccine used is safe and free, approved by the World Health Organization, and given to children free of charge by a qualified medical staff, and aims to enhance children’s immunity, and protect the child and society from the dangerous polio disease that leads to permanent disability or death, knowing that common diseases such as cold Diarrhea, mild hyperthermia, or medication (such as anti-inflammatory drugs) do not prevent vaccination.
