The launch of activities of Fitur 2023 tourism fair in Madrid with Syrian Participation

With the participation of Syria, the activities of the “Fitur 2023” Tourism Trade  Fair were launched in Madrid, Spain, with the participation of 60 countries, and it will continue until the 22nd of this month.

In a statement to SANA, the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Eng. Ghiath Al-Farah, head of the Syrian delegation to the fair, confirmed that Syria’s participation is evidence of the recovery of its tourism sector and the return of security and safety to it. He pointed out that it constitutes an opportunity to promote and encourage the arrival of tourists to Syria, which has a diversified tourism product, and also gives space to holding meetings and agreements between participating companies and tourist offices.

He indicated that, based on the importance of promoting and expanding tourism activity by attracting tourists of all nationalities, the Syrian Pavilion presents an introduction to the visitor wishing to come to Syria with all the simplified measures taken by the Ministry and other concerned public authorities to grant him an easy entry visa.

He noted that the Syrian delegation met with a number of representatives of the participating countries and pavilions, such as Jordan, Egypt, Palestine and Venezuela. He expressed the hope that Syria’s participation would be the beginning of its participation in other exhibitions around the world, in preparation for the return of activity and the arrival of tourism to it, which will have a positive impact in supporting the national economy.

For his part, Director of the Syrian Company for Transport and Tourism, Engineer Fayez Mansour, highlighted the good turnout of visitors to the Syrian pavilion on the first day of the exhibition, who came to be briefed on Syria and its tourist attractions, how and what to visit in Syria.

Regarding the participation of the Syrian Company for Transport and Tourism, Mansour said: “We have tourist facilities and the Karnak Corporation for Tourism and Travel attract visitors, whether to the corporation’s facilities or other tourist facilities.”

The delegation also includes the head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Tourism, Eng. Talal Khudair, and representatives of Cham Wings Airlines, tourism and travel offices, private companies and hotels.

The inauguration was attended by Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Spain, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, and a number of members of the Syrian Embassy in Madrid.
