The joint Syrian-Russian meeting to follow up the work of the international conference on the return of refugees kicks off today

Damascus (ST): The activities of the joint Syrian-Russian meeting  to follow up on the work of the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons,will start today in Damascus

The deliberations of the four-day meeting include a session of the Syrian and Russian coordination ministerial bodies, in the presence of representatives of the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations, in addition to discussing the Syrian and Russian sides’ signing cooperation agreements in various fields.

 

The activities of the meeting also include meetings in various governorates within the sectors of media, housing, public works, local administration, environment, electricity, higher education, agriculture, agrarian reform, industry and health, and the distribution of aid and textbooks in a number of governorates.

The international conference on the return of Syrian refugees was held in November 2020, where its final statement affirmed Syria’s readiness to welcome the return of its citizens to the homeland and to continue efforts to provide them with decent living conditions.It called on the international community to provide appropriate support to the refugees and increase its contribution and support to Syria through the implementation of projects related to reconstruction, providing health and medical care, social services and demining.
