The Iraqi Prime Minister discusses with Al-Miqdad prospects for strengthening Syrian-Iraqi relations
The Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, ways to improve bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani affirmed the interdependence of Iraqi national security with Syria’s security, and full readiness to help the Syrian people overcome the crisis.
He stressed Iraq’s position in support of the Syrian territorial integrity and sovereignty.
He expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Syria in the cultural and economic fields, and to facilitate trade exchanges between the two countries.
Al-Miqdad conveyed to the Iraqi Prime Minister the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad, expressing Syria’s appreciation for the Iraqi position in support of it during the crisis period, and also in facing the catastrophic repercussions of the earthquake that struck it.
Al-Miqdad also affirmed Syria’s support for Iraqi efforts and its pivotal role in the region to consolidate the relationship between the Arab brothers.
Al-Miqdad expressed the desire for joint action to achieve security and stability in the region, and to confront common challenges, foremost of which is the fight against terrorism.
